This is a collection of erotica short stories that is quite impactful, even outside of the erotic parts. I couldn't really get into the stories because the blatant racism throughout kept pulling me out of it.
The writing is quite beautiful and I so wish that I had been able to enjoy it more. As is, it is not a book that I would recommend.

Lukija vähän tylsä. Uuvuttavaa kuunneltavaa, kun on yksinäinen.

Ok. mixed feelings..

On one hand - Anais Nin can write erotica. She can. Some of them are .. bizarre but sexy? They're dark and.... glamorous.

On the other hand - I got bored. Like. quickly. Like really quickly.

It was okay. Mostly.

Quite a bit shorter than Delta of Venus, and the stories are far less nonsensical, but I enjoyed this as well.

Ummmm there's no way I'm finishing this book when the first short story is about a man being attracted to schoolgirls. I stopped on the ninth page. I will never pick up any of her work again. From what I gathered, she seems to think incest, sexual assault, and pedophilia are erotic. Ugh. What a waste of time.

This is a collection of erotic short stories. The best way I can describe the effect of this book on the reader comes from Nin’s own words in the preface. She comments that most writers of erotica do not set out to write such material; they are driven to it by the need for money. “Most of the erotica was written on empty stomachs.” She goes on to note that hunger will stimulate the imagination. But she also cautions that if “you get too hungry, too continuously, you become a bum…” I found some analogy in reading these stories. One or two a day was enough. More than that, and I felt nauseatingly full.

Fair warning to readers: There are graphic sex scenes here, and while most are typical male/female encounters between consenting adults, a few of the stories include very distasteful and/or disturbing practices (including pedophilia).
