This is a collection of erotica short stories that is quite impactful, even outside of the erotic parts. I couldn't really get into the stories because the blatant racism throughout kept pulling me out of it.
The writing is quite beautiful and I so wish that I had been able to enjoy it more. As is, it is not a book that I would recommend.

a bit disappointed in this. going in, I thought I was going to get majority sapphic stories and misogyny but instead I got men being men and paedophilia.

Beautiful cover design & heard so much about Anaïs Nin via Instagram book reviewers. Picked it up, didn't read a few stories due to not agree with my morals & values, about exploitation and abuse children.

A very unsual little book from a female author from so many year ago. The introduction reflect  that it written personally for a male for money...possibly seen as feminism.

DNF. I can't stomach this. The defence of this book and it's rape filled contents as purposeful discomfort used to examine and dismantle puritanism and social constructs is such a joke. The only thing it does in reenforce them. I don't care if it's written by a woman - women aid and abet the patriachy too. History and current day politics prove this a billion times over.

The real radical take on sex and sexuality is not one that explores "degenerate kinks" but self and mutual respect. Rape, pedophilia, gendered power roles, sexual violence, et all are the status quo built deeply into the establishment and social constructs. There's nothing radical or edgy about these stories that cater to the patriarchy.

This is not usually something I’d pick up, but I’m always willing to read something new in the name of a reading challenge (this one is for All the genres on The StoryGraph). Honestly, I kind of expected more…something poetic and nuanced with a more feminist spin. This just felt dated.
