This is a collection of erotica short stories that is quite impactful, even outside of the erotic parts. I couldn't really get into the stories because the blatant racism throughout kept pulling me out of it.
The writing is quite beautiful and I so wish that I had been able to enjoy it more. As is, it is not a book that I would recommend.

Beautiful cover design & heard so much about Anaïs Nin via Instagram book reviewers. Picked it up, didn't read a few stories due to not agree with my morals & values, about exploitation and abuse children.

A very unsual little book from a female author from so many year ago. The introduction reflect  that it written personally for a male for money...possibly seen as feminism.

This book should definitely be read only as a product of its time. The sheer boldness of Nin's headfirst dive into shameless, trippy erotica took my breath away, though.

This is not usually something I’d pick up, but I’m always willing to read something new in the name of a reading challenge (this one is for All the genres on The StoryGraph). Honestly, I kind of expected more…something poetic and nuanced with a more feminist spin. This just felt dated.

I do have to admit that Anaïs Nin is not a bad writer, but this is not a good book, AT ALL. I do not understand how anyone can possibly enjoy these stories: rape, pedophilia, and racism (among other things) do not belong in a erotica book.

(Trying to add content warnings but there are so many I'm sure I'm forgetting some.)
