Sometimes there is just one thing that makes a book that much more enjoyable and in the case of this book, it's the humourous tone. Without it, I wouldn't be as invested in the story or characters. Sometimes it's easy to forget you're reading a sci-fi novel. It's just amusing all the way through, the sarcasm, the wit, it's all on point. I like the characterisations of the robots, Marvin especially was my favourite. I wasn't too invested in the plot but it was simple enough to follow and fairly interesting. I wouldn't say I was captivated by it necessarily but I did want to see how it would play out. The brilliant thing about this book is that you don't have to be a sci-fi to enjoy it. I think I probably enjoyed it more on my first read but I am glad I got the opportunity to re-read it. ,

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is by far one of my favorite pieces of literature of all time. Seriously, I love this book so much that my senior quote was a quote derived from this novel (so long and thanks for all the fish, in case anyone was curious!)

This book is short and sweet, very much a being of its own accord and something that hasn't quite been replicated. Though, when I read this book, I definitely feel like a huge, stereotypical nerd, as its importance in the pop-culture zeitgeist is definitely prevalent but maybe not the most mainstream. It is gut-bustingly funny, entertaining in its ramblings, and unique in its approach to storytelling. You can definitely tell that Douglas Adams was passionate as he wrote, as that love seeps through each page and each quirky detail.

If you haven't read this book before, or want some lighthearted sci-fi, check out this book! It's referred to as a modern classic for a reason! :)

“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

I think finishing this book took me as long as it took Deep Thought to find The Answer; seven and a half million years. This does not imply that I did not enjoy reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's just that in a somewhat boring part I slipped into a reading slump, and this week I got out of it (I hope...). (Oh, and I don't like giving up, so I decided to push through this book haha).

Anyway, the book is very, very highly praised, which - I have to admit - I don't really get. It is funny and absurd, but I think I must've missed some jokes in the book, but my physics teacher would always joke that the answer to everything is 42, which does makes sense now :)

A short slog. Not much of a plot thread and not much character development either. Mostly composed of tangents and “quirky” alien names.

It was very funny and the story was fastpaced. Only problem really was how confusing some parts were. Like I had to remember so many planet names and try to understand bunch of science stuff. The characters were weird in a good way and i really liked some of them. Over all i was bit dissapointed bc this is very popular book and it wasn't as good as i was expecting.

This book was so damn good I had to pace myself cause I didn’t want to read it too quickly. Imaginative, absurd, incredibly funny. This will be one to re-read again!
