This book was incredible. I do not give out five stars very often and this book makes my glad I dont, because 5 stars should be reserved for books that make me feel so strongly captivated like Rebecca. The audiobook performance was absolutely exceptional, Anna acted like her life depended on it.

Fantastic read. Even though I knew what would happen, I found myself caught up in the story.

Rebecca is a classic, published in 1938, and it is just as suspenseful to a modern reader as it may have been 80+ years ago. This story exquisitely weaves together elements of gothic horror, unforgettable romance, and psychological intrigue, creating a spooky masterpiece that has stood the test of time. There is a good reason this book still boasts long waitlists at the library. Daphne du Maurier writes with evocative prose, putting you into the mind of a naive unnamed narrator as she explores the human psyche. Rebecca had my head spinning, but something about the ending left me a big unsatisfied. The four stars are for the wonderful ride, and the -1 is for the ending.

A masterpiece in Gothic literature, and a novel which improves with every reread.
