Although I didn't read this book I could not find the copy I read so I am responding to this text.
I read the introduction as the name suggests though was fairly lost so I read the book, then returned to the introduction which made more sense.
This book was written in the early 1700s yet the timeliness and reference to our culture and politics read like it was published this year. I had to remind myself over and over again that Swift lived over 300 years ago.
When I was in fifth grade, my fifth grade teacher read Gulliver's Travels to the class. I am sure it was a different version as there are several graphic scenes which I do not believe would have gone over my head, even at the tender age of 11. The political expose probably would have.
In the time of an election, I think this is an excellent text, particulary the last journery.

Repetitive, and bland. So very nearly gave up about 6 times but I hate not finishing a book.

I need to stop reading classics for a while. I know there is a gem in there somewhere. I know it is a great satire on human civilization and all that. I know, I know. I am really trying to appreciate it, but it was just... so.... dry! *cough*.
The audible narrator also didn't improve the experience at all. All I can say at this point is that I slept really well to it.
I am definitely gonna give it another try some time later, probably will be reading it instead of listening.
