I enjoyed reading the story of Ann and Aminatou’s relationship and was prompted to text my dearest friends. I haven’t stopped thinking about how I can improve on showing up from them. Ann and Aminatou were both very transparent (it felt a little disingenuous at times being in 3rd person although I understand why it is written that way) and it felt raw to read at times, especially when they talk about interracial relationships. I think I would prefer their podcast (I have yet to listen) because the book left me wanting something more.
I liked this book more than I expected I would. It normalizes struggle in friendships and it touched on a lot of the fears, worries, and struggles that I’ve had in forming and sustaining friendships. Even if I don’t have a good solution coming away from this book, it did validate those feelings.

7/7. I COULD not have picked up this book at a better time. I don't have a particularly thoughtful review, but it has me thinking about friendships that have ended, how my current friendships will transition to long-distance, and what a HUGE and undervalued role friends play in my life. I'm so grateful to this book for validating a lot of the big emotions I've been feeling over the last year!
