I wasn’t expecting too much from this book as I didn’t like the first one in this series but Juliet was such an annoying character that I couldn’t finish this book.
Killian seemed to be fine but I couldn’t really concentrate on him when almost everything that Juliet did made me so angry.
Around the middle of this book, there were some funny scenes so I was hoping that I would like this book but Juliet, with her constant complaining and complicating things, made me DNF this book.
She keeps talking about how Killian is evil and she’s constantly comparing him to her father, which wasn’t fair at all since from the beginning Killian never did anything to her whereas her father would have killed the thief within the first minute of catching him. She keeps doing that (the comparing and saying that Killian is evil) until a few chapters before I DNFed. She figures something out and for about 2 lines she thinks slightly positive things about Killian then she comes up with another ridiculous idea and goes back to thinking that Killian is horrible and that he’s using her. I just couldn’t stand her anymore.
I don’t think this author is for me.
I read a different book by her which I really liked but now I think that it was mostly just the shocking ending that made me think that I liked it so much.

I'm shook. I HATED the first book in this series but decided to give this one a chance because I've enjoyed other books by Geissinger. This was so sweet though? Like if you put aside the controlling and borderline toxic elements that are always going to be in a dark/mafia romance, it made me feel all sorts of ways. Plus, I LOVED the banter and relationship between the MCs. I think one of the key reasons that this worked for me is that the heroine doesn't let Killian get away with pushing her around at all.
