While I absolutely loved the parallels to the play Et Dukkehjem by Ibsen, one of my favorite pieces of classic Scandinavian literature, as well the epilogue, I found myself somewhat disappointed with this book. I don't quite know how to put it into words, but for me it just wasn't as gripping as Marklund's previous works.
While it had the same pull as Marklund's previous novels about Annika Bengtzon in the sense that I couldn't put it down once I started reading it and while I thought the concept of the plot very interesting, the ending just fell flat for me. It begins quite nicely, but after all of the tensions building up throughout the novel, it wound up leaving me incredibly unsatisfied in the form of a lot of unanswered questions—I kept expecting there to be more.

Ei ollut ihan parhain Maklundin kirjoista. Liikaa ratkaisemattomia asioita ja loppujen lopuksi ei edes tapahtunut paljon mitään.

Aloin lukemaan kirjaa tajuamatta että se oli sarjan 10 osa. Olisi varmasti saanut hiukan enemmän irti jos olisin lukenut edellisiä. Hiukan pettymys, itse murha jäi kaiken muun tarinan jalkoihin.

Harmillista, mutta petyin kyllä tällä kertaa tähän Annika Bengtzon -dekkariin, vaikka yleensä olen kirjailijan kirjoista pitänyt. Ei lainkaan koukuttavinta Marklundia, aihepiirinäkään politiikan ja talousrikosten koukerot eivät ole ihan minun juttuni. Vähän pakottamalla itseäni luin tämän joka tapauksessa loppuun saakka, ja kirjahan saa jatkaa matkaansa, koska löytyy näköjään useammaltakin toivelistalta. Toivottavasti iskee seuraaviin lukijoihin vähän paremmin!

Wow!!!! Spoliers: I didn't realise that it was related to Henrik Isben's Dolls House until the end, but yeah, it made so much sense! Love Scandinavian Crime,

Oh right - it's number 10 in a series. That's why there was so much back story. Entertaining (if rather gruesome) read, but didn't bowl me over.
