The dialog is often funny but this wasn't gelling for me. Was it the premise? The flat secondary characters? The too perfect, too suddenly adoring new love interest? The fact that the main characters each jumped from one relationship with what they thought was the love of their life to no, actually, THIS person is the love of my life? Was it how the main character was a librarian but wasn't great at picking up on context clues and didn't seem terribly curious about the world around her unless a man showed her around? Was it the fact that asparagus and cherries would probably not be in peak season at the same time in Northern Michigan? Or the fact that I have another romance checked out right now that IS scratching my itch? Who knows.

I really loved the book overall and loved the characters for the most part. I think there were times Daphne irked me with the constant focus of her own feelings and impact without thinking about how she may be impacting Miles, but I also think it irks me because the call is coming from inside the house. I love these characters dearly, but the book def could’ve benefited from them getting therapy lol
