I really liked all the characters, which is interesting because in the last Emilie Henry book I read, I could not stand any of the characters.  Even though I liked them, I felt like their self-awakenings took forever and dragged on and on.  I never know if that's how the author wrote it, or just how I perceive it based on my mood and the events of my own life.

I loved the library setting, the examination of friendship, and developing a love for a place.

6 stars.

This book means everything to me... When I read it for the first time last year, I was considering becoming a children's librarian and since then, I've started hosting my own bilingual storytimes and am currently taking classes to get a masters degree in library science. Daphne is literally who I want to be when I grow up!

Beyond working in a library, Daphne is a character I relate to on so many levels! I literally tabbed my book every time she said or did something I related to. I also tabbed everything about Miles that reminded me of my husband because oh. my. god! They are so similar! Of course, this makes Miles one of my top book boyfriends.

I just love this story so much. Daphne and Miles have both been through heartbreak with their exes and their families, so watching them learn how to heal themselves and help guide each other through that process really resonated with me. This is a book I'll probably be rereading over and over again for many years to come.

Should I get "you feel like sunshine" tattooed on me? Maybe after a 3rd reread...

i think every new emily henry book always inevitably becomes my favorite. i waited almost a year for this one to come out in paperback (all the rest of my emily henry books are, and they have to match of course) and i am SO glad i finally got to read it. there is just something about the way this woman writes that absolutely speaks to my soul. very taylor swift energy. it feels like she sees all little pieces of my brain and shows me exactly how they look from the outside. the way she writes characters makes them feel so human and real, and it hits absolutely every time.

both of the main leads in this book are such incredibly interesting characters and reading their relationship ebb and flow was truly a treat. i love miles and daphne. ashleigh and julia and all the other characters were such perfect support for both of them, and the way emily’s writing makes you care about them just as much is masterful. i just finished it and i kind of want to immediately read it again.

truly a 5 star read. maybe a favorite of the year already.

Sometimes it seemed a little inconsistent.
