I read this in a few days, did not want to put it down. From the prologue I thought the book would shift perspectives but it moved into one perspective and while I don’t always love shifting perspectives I would have appreciated the perspective of the younger sister, as she became a henna assistant and made better pastes than her older sister. I appreciated the immersion into another culture and it made me want to travel again. I found myself wanting a little further look out in the epilogue, but overall I really enjoyed this read.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Interesting plot & character development.

Beautiful story of an Indian woman who left an arranged marriage and her parents to live her life on her terms. The story depicts the caste system in India after independence from Britain control shedding light on the struggles of those with less and those with too much.

Really enjoyed this. Dragged a little bit in spots but overall a great read. Made me crave Indian food.
