women supporting women but the support is for a dubiously consensual marriage...men calling each other 'sweetheart' but the 'sweetheart' in question is a classist lying hypocrite...penguin introduction went off calling it a fairytale that keeps exposing its own fallacies. shakespeare's take on the 'every character is some flavour of unlikeable' litfic trope crossed with a 17th century roast session, because shakespeare's humour never fails.

love the countess she should've been a lesbian. parolles funny as hell sometimes you just need to see an annoying white gay lose horrendously in life. helen reverse-reverse gone girl (i have never read gone girl in my life) with some very mixed characterisation. also the references encoded in her name and diana's were clever i see you shakespeare. also also the parallel/juxtaposition between helena paling and bertram blushing in guilt was fun too. who's left ummm guy playing lafew in the globe production was good i liked his decision to belt out every single one of his lines. this clown is the funniest stock clown archetype i've seen yet. bertram pathetic little wet dog who still hasn't been potty-trained yet. tricking parolles was the best scene bertram and diana was the worst. and post.

Bertram's more of a cad than catch, but there are some very enjoyable passages.

E.g. Parolles trashing Captain Dumain: "in his sleep he does little harm, save to his bed-clothes about him; but they know his conditions and lay him in straw." 4.3.252-5.

And any Monty Python fan will thrill to see the Clown addressed as "Master Lavache." 5.2.1.

loved the everyone-come-together-and-roast-bertram ending, but why oh why did he still get the girl?

Shakespeare is really good with rhyme scheme and I think that lately pop artists suck with that and the old English was even more difficult I think.

Still this story never caputered me as much as Romeo and Juliet did. This of course being only the second story I've read from him. However I will read Hamlet soon. I just hope that one would be better but I believe so. I've heard better reviews than this one. I actually have read this one before in English Literature. still have the same opinion: Did Shakespeare tried to mock about men? Since Betram is like the biggest loser and cheater. I don't understand him at all but whatever I never will understand Shakespeare.

So now I was asked to write a musical and I think that I could study how it works with a play and well I know I'll never be as good as Shakespeare but in that case he inspires me. So let's hope I can make something from this.

Helena is the best and a character not content to remain constrained within her narrative, HOW EXCELLENT IS THAT. Honestly, what elevates the play ngl.
