The storyline of Jesus overshadowed Ana's story. The author's note even focused less on Ana and the origins of her character, which was too bad because Ana's story was so compelling.

History is written by the victors and, for the most part, men. We can only imagine what the women of history had to say and Sue Monk Kidd does a breathtaking job of doing just that. This is the story of Ana the (fictional) wife of Jesus. The author says that Ana wandered into her imagination and would not leave until her story was on the page. I literally left a solitary tear on one of the last pages because it made me recall all of the amazing women I’ve met in my life and it made me sad for all of the beautiful perspectives we’ll never get to know. Anyways, girls rule... read this book!
