Я дуже довго не бралася за цю книжку — памʼятаю, що скачала вперше в потязі в Німеччину з Бельгії в жовтні 2022 (це виявився той ранок, коли в Києві був перший масовий ракетний обстріл), а тут нарешті вирішила спробувати. Перші відсотків 20% звикала до стилю, пробиралася крізь ті потоки думок, а далі все пішло дуже легко. Чудова книжка. Шукатиму її тепер іще в перекладах і даруватиму іноземцям.
Додаткове "дякую" за:
- За постійні згадки Золотоворітської — вулиці, де я прожила (on and off) декілька дуже світлих років у колі найближчих друзів, тому знаю там буквально кожен кутик (стійку для пиття кави СПК додали вже пізніше, але це локальний мем:)
- За Лукаша, я засміялася вголос, бо чула ті всі історії на своїх парах. "За кого ти мене маєш, гадаєш, я не знаю, хто такий Лукаш?"
- За "Во, бля, сказала вона, ні хуя собі", бо на таке треба мати майстерність:)
Точно перечитуватиму, дуже-дуже раджу, бо це був чудовий читацький досвід. Єдине питання: що читати далі (щоб так само сподобалося)?

місцями цікава цеглинка, особливо зацінила описи підпілля УПА. однак більшою мірою це історія із неймовірно зверхніми персонажами, присипана мізогінією та дуже-дуже слизькими діалогами. минуло вже більше місяця з моменту прочитання, а око досі сіпається від "котиків" і "дівчаток". від подачі основної ідеї книги паморочиться голова.
стиль авторки, яким часто лякають недосвідчених читачів у книжкових чатах, мені загалом подобається. тим не менш, на певному етапі починаються самоповтори, які імхо можна було б скоротити. та не мені обмежувати творчий потік талановитих людей, а талановитість Забужко я під сумнів не ставлю. тим не менш, для мене ця книга більше ні, аніж так, і поспішати знайомитись з іншими творами немає бажання.

DNFling at 28%. This is another one of those of the books that I feel is important as it focuses on Ukrainian history and after the events of last year I thought it was worth a read Unfortunately, I was constantly confused by what was going on. "Stream of Conscious" is hard for me to read, because you are in the head of the main character the whole time and I have hard time following along.

This was a slog and I often found myself avoiding picking it up to continue. I was expecting a lot more history, but in reality it was mostly the rambling thoughts of two uninteresting modern characters with various side plots that didn’t seem to matter to the central narrative. I specifically feel this way about anything relating to Vlada, the painter. That whole plot could have been scrapped with no real loss.
