Not as thrilling as other Lisa Jewell books. I might actually categorize this one as more of a historical fiction. Entertaining!

I enjoyed the first part of this book, but found myself fizzling out about half way through. I didn't warm to either main character, nor did I understand them. Additionally, the storyline became a little predictable. Although I typically love those books that see-saw back and forth through time, this one fell flat: the sort of literary equivalent of a bottle of soda left uncapped for a day.

A good long book to keep my interest between two decades: 1920s and 1990s and their connections. I would’ve loved to have known some of the characters better, but it wasn’t drawing me in like some of her others. I really do like the narrator, Helen Duff. She has narrated a lot of other Lisa Jewell novels.

While the storylines were maybe a tad underwhelming, Lisa Jewell remains one of the more talented writers I’ve read.
