This book was worth the hype for sure, perhaps for me it was the right book at the wrong time. However I love the magical realism and also the peek into another culture and their history.

The writing is so smooth so easy to follow and love. She is such an amazing story teller, you just fall into her stories and live them because her descriptions are so vivid. Her characters are so well written as well. Every single one. Their stories, their lives. We get to read about the Truebas—Del Valle family. Their problems, tragedies, struggles; their love lives. All their fortunes and misfortunes. Each ‘story’ we learn about the family is intense, different, interesting. It keeps you wanting to keep listening just to know what’s going to happen next and why. This was such a beautiful story, tragic, heartbreaking, haunting and beautiful.

Es mi segundo libro por Isabel Allende y me encantó. Ella sabe cómo contar historias hermosas, tristes, y chistosas. Me la pase riendo, y luego enojada hasta llore 😂. Su manera de escribir me encanta, es muy bien descriptora, sus historias siempre se sienten verdaderas. Como que estoy leyendo verdadero no fiction. En este libro seguimos tres generaciones de la familia Truebas-Del Valle. Todas las historias de cada miembro de la familia. Son historias felices y tristes, la fortuna de una familia. 10/10
