Vaya viaje he vivido con este libro. No sé qué esperaba de él, pero desde luego no era esto. Ilusa de mí, cuando en el capítulo 3 pensaba que ya estaba por terminar porque no había más trama que contar y sin saber todo lo que me quedaba.
La mejor forma de definir este libro sería "La vida en todo su esplendor", con sus pros y sus contras. Espectacular retrato de la vida chilena antes, durante y después del golpe de estado. Y, por si fuera poco, lo vivimos desde los dos prismas de pensamiento de la época.

An unfolding of complex people over generations, and observations from 'now's and 'then's on the product of our choices across time. The House of the Spirits weaves together moments of magic, mundanity, flaws, elation and torment in a balnce beautifully reflective of reality.
Definitely a touch sensational for my tastes in parts and some yikes language here and there as a side-effect of the time it was written in, and the time it was written about. But overall this book was a breath of fresh air.
It was also a pleasant surprise and read at the perfect time of my life, I think (which is I guess reflective of the tone of serendipity) - I picked this up and started reading on a whim after abandoning it half-way through when I was about 15.
