I'm actually really surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. I went into this book not knowing anything other than it was a mystery book for kids. I was a little hesitant to read it but I'm happy I did. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, which was ok. I felt that if we had really connect with the characters it would have taken away the mysterious factors of the book. I have a hard time believing this is a children's book. The choice of words was very sophisticated. While I knew what the words meant, I still don't see those words in books I read now, so I feel that it might be a tad confusing with all the fancy words for younger readers. All in all I am really pleased with how the story came out and can't wait to continue.

nobody told me this book series was about the life of a younger lemony snicket. i'm sort of disappointed in myself for not knowing this sooner, as i absolutely love asoue. i'm also disappointed in mr. daniel handler because this did not deliver. the book was short and a bit sloppy. the story fell flat and the characters weren't as interesting as the baudelaire orphans. i know i shouldn't have an expectation based on his previous work but this is a prequel after all. i'll still be reading the rest.

Lemony Snicket is back!!!!! *twirls*

I was sooo excited when I saw a new book would come out, this time featuring the little Snicket, and how everything started.

I loved the pictures, they just complement the story and make it even better.

It was a fun book, I had some laughs, and also was cheering for Snicket.

I can't wait for more books!

The dry humor and detail oriented writing style pulled me in. However some of the “mystery” just results in confusion.
