“Up, down, same thing” might be my new favorite quote of all time. The Nao sections were absolutely wonderful and the Ruth sections less so. Loved all the Zen lessons and the characters, and also the weird mix of all topics that exist in this book.

I listened to the audiobook of A Tale for the Time Being. It was quite journey. I loved the curiousity about how we are connected and impact of interactions on others. This came highly recommended.

Super weird, dark, and with moments of intense violence, but I ended up really linking how it toys with concepts of time and found the relatively kind portrayal of deeply flawed (and some just awkward) characters to be really well done. A hopeful and tragic reflection on life, death, and connection.

Moderate: Pedophilia
I really enjoyed this! It took me a but to get past the framing device (author is character?) but once I got into it the story of the girl writing the diary, and even the responses the character reading it has, are really engaging and sometimes moving. I think i cried, and there are passages I still want to re-read years later
