I'm rating this at 2.5 stars; If I hadn't read Sundown by Roberts a few weeks back, this might have been a 3.

The Obsession was more palatable and written a bit better but it's the same plot, story, town, characters, dog, blah blah.

The book started off strong... I was captivated by the crime (even if it was familiar) but the crime-thriller part was over as fast as it started and "oh not, not this again" dull romance ensued... I was bored to tears waiting for something to happen... and then something did! A new crime breathed life back into the book but compared to other crime-thrillers... meh. This is a cardboard romance book pretending it's something else.... but at least it was better than Sundown.

Very much enjoyed this one, even if I knew who the bad guy was from the moment the murders started. Nice strong romance, no stupid characters.

Love this book. Love the mystery and the characters. This was my second time reading it, and I still loved it. Great read!

Another Nora Roberts book that I couldn't put down. This one read more like a mystery which I loved. It was fast paced and kept me engaged the whole time. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the dialogue was choppy at times and really abrupt. I had to read over some conversations to understand what was said. I have never encountered this before in a Roberts novel.

Like many of Roberts' books, this one shows us a strong woman who is trying to escape her past and finally, after many years of running, put down roots. She doesn't want to become a part of the community, she just wants somewhere to hide, but day by day, little by little, this community finds it's way into her heart.
It begins with an opening that tears at your heart for 12 year old Naomi. We then jump ahead to grown-up Naomi finding her way and her home. As she begins to discover what it means to belong, one of the women in town turns up dead...not far from Naomi's home and is found by Naomi. One death means nothing to worry about...right??
I enjoyed this read - the action at the beginning, the finding a place and letting herself grow in the middle, then the thriller as it builds. I love that I did not pick who was obsessed with Naomi. To me, this is always the sign of a well-written book because it kept me guessing, right until the end.
If you love Nora Roberts, if you love strong women and you love a book that twists right until the end, do yourself a favour and give this book a try.
I have an advanced reading copy of this book which will be released in April.

Dang - interesting characters, a good dog, romance, triumph over past issues - all the feel good stuff needed for an enjoyable read. Of course the good guys win in the end, and the bad guy gets his just dessert, and ALL the characters are of the stereotypical Hallmark movie variety, but I didn't care. It was comfort food for the soul and I just what I wanted to read.

A delightful blend of suspense, crime, and romance.  However, the predictability of the plot, especially concerning the killer's identity, is somewhat disappointing, it felt like a rehash of her other books. Overall, it's an enjoyable romantic suspense novel, even if it's not one of Nora Roberts best.
