This was such a sweet book. I adored the nature descriptions and the power of thoughts that Frances Hodgson Burnett conveys through the simplistic persona of a child. It's a quick read and calming one; it makes you smile and feel rejuvenated just as if the Magic is in you as well.

After reading this book as an older teen, I can’t tell you how it’s changed me! I now see every bird and wonder where it’s nest and mate is, same goes for rabbits, squirrels, ect. I see nature in a different way and I appreciate it more!!!

This was a comforting, classic read about the power of nature and positive thinking wrapped in a coming of age tale. Both Mary and Colin aren’t particularly likeable characters at the start, but they develop and grow - although I still thought they were both quite spoilt. The plot was lacking in places, and I wish we had seen more about Dickon’s life. The writing did feel quite basic, but as a children’s classic, it’s understandable.

Ein wirklich schönes Buch mit wundervollen Beschreibungen, jedoch mit nicht wenigen rassistischen Aussagen, die aufgrund des Zeitpunktes der Herausgabe leider nicht überraschend waren.
