I want to rate this 5, but for unexplained reasons, I feel something holding me back. Overall, this was such a fun adventure to begin. 2 female protagonists (and 1 male) is a huge draw for me. Women are strong and powerful, which aligns with the culture and is refreshing to see. I will absolutely be continuing the series.

Very interesting take on a modern fantasy. More Nordic inspired obviously. Enjoyed the blood of the gods system and how present they were in the world despite being dead. All very cool.

Good solid twists to keep the reader guessing elevates it over just a raw 4.

I think it missed the mark for me on a bit of the jargon stuff like thought-cage, as well as all the weapon names. A little too goofy. Some spots I also had to reread a few times as it was dense.

I cannot understand all the love this book gets. I found it incredibly predictable, simple and overall boring. The characters had no development whatsoever; the tropes were done in a very unoriginal way. The only reason why I didn’t rate this book even lower is because the action scenes were well written and because I liked the ending. Also, the book isn’t bad, it’s just bland.
