Strong 5 stars contender
I love the main Preeti's relationship with her parents. Li tankou gla je yo, it's so lovely to see rep like that.
Also I never thought that I could love the "getting back together" trope but I might dive fully into it after reading this book.
The beginning of the book was kinda hard to read. To me, it seems like some parts were written for fresh out of highschool teenagers. Or "just got into college" Young adults. Also at some part the characters were just endlessly talking in some long tirade...

I enjoyed the first book in this series, The Trouble With Hating You. This book does refer back to that book, though you can definitely read this one first. This one is a second chance love story and at times I felt like I needed a prequel to understand Daniel and Preeti’s story! While Preeti is Indian, Daniel is Black. This story involves forced proximity, family issues, and racism, as well as anxiety. It was a sweet story overall.
I LOVE a good second chance romance! I didn’t know if she would end up with Daniel! It kept me guessing the entire time. The romance was clean and flirty . I loved how social and cultural differences were explored but love prevailed!
First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel
A complicated past, heartbreak and love that never went away makes staying in an apartment with your ex for 3 weeks not ideal. Preeti broke Daniels heart years ago for reasons she never really explained and he is not over it. I loved their relationship and how it was the kind of love you can’t deny.
This story is not an easy romance. It has a lot of serious and deep issues within it, I was grateful for the trigger warning at the beginning of the book so I was prepared for some hard scenes. The story dives deep into what an interracial relationship can be like when not everyone is in favour of it. Anxiety and touch aversion are also dealt with and explained really well in my opinion.
Thank you to @readforeverpub for my copy! This book is out on September 21st!

I loved that this book tackled an interracial relationship and prejudices.
It was a serious topic that was handled well.
The romance was FIRE!!! I loved the tension between the two characters and loved reading the journey of them coming back together. All of the characters were a great and contributed a lot to the story rather than just being there as window dressing.

First love take two was the first second chance romance novel that I have read. An Romance dealing with serious issues such as mental illness, racism, and family drama. Sajni Patel did a great job of addressing these important topics and explaining hardships. It starts off slow but it got interesting later on. I wished the book would have be longer, to see more interaction between Preeti, Daniel and the other characters.
