this was, for the most part, boring. it was a struggle to get through because it was exhausting being in preeti's head all the time, and i personally didn't like her as a character much. maybe if there was also multiple povs, it would have made the narrative better and flow easier. there are parts of this that are important for sure, especially the depression and anxiety rep. i think that was handled well. but other than that, there were handfuls of monologues that were borderline preachy and cheesy, and it just dragged most parts. it's all very "tell" rather than "show". there were also like really dramatic parts, and i think i was not expecting it so i was in the wrong headspace for cinderella type, "get away from my son!" type drama. and liya's issue with that dirty old man is still unresolved, but i don't think i want to read another story to know what happened there.

the anxiety scene made me emotional *cries* was it the best love story? no, but for some reason I really enjoyed it
my most anticipated read of the year and it did not disappoint.

really enjoyed the plot and the depiction of friendship, community, and representation. also enjoyed relationship between characters
After listening to The Trouble With Hating You, I was excited to read another novel in the series.
Preeti was such an awesome lead. I felt so bad for all her struggles. She was very self sacrificing and you did want to shake her to communicate with everyone. It got sort of annoying at points.
I would have liked to hear both POV’s. Like we did for the Trouble With Hating You. I wanted to understand more from Daniel. But I understood why it was solely Preeti.
These books definitely hit tough topics. And pull on your heart strings. I was very glad Daniel and Preeti got their HEA.
3.5/5
