This is probably the best book I’ve read this year. At first, the first person narration scared me, but I ended enjoying a lot my time in Lieutenant Easton’s head,

not in the fungi sense

.

The writing was very enjoyable, and at one point even managed to make me jump in my seat from a jumpscare (

when they were dissecting the hare and it moved? I was reading in class and almost embarrassed myself

)

I’ll definitely check out other books by the author. Although, be sure to check for content warnings; nothing’s too graphic but it can get a bit nasty.

This book started… weird, very atmospheric as many people and readers have said but to me it was pretty slow. The beginning felt entertaining but way too dense for me. BUT THEN! Then this book took a turn I was not specting! It made me not put it down for a second! I did not even want to stand up to go to the bathroom, this book is a must read! So good and so beautifully written! Lovely❣️
