This book was not what I was hoping for. It’s was slow and not in the ‘slow burn’ kind of way, but more a too many details, boring, skim the pages just to see if you are correct about who the killer was. And I was, it was predictable.
I would love to know why Doyle was at the lean-to covering his tracks. I guess I skimmed right over that because I thought he was setting said lean- to owner up.

Achingly tender. I appreciated the forthrightness of the protagonist and narrator. Unflinching and honest. Krueger did an excellent job of illustrating this real and flawed character while also capturing the human spirit and commenting, in lovely detail, about the more profound aspects as well as pedestrian banalities that unite to form who we are as humans and how we respond in the face of tragedy.

This was one of the best books I have read all year. Excellent. Thought provoking, sad, it taught me a few things.
I would definitely recommend.

I listened to this book since I choose it for my book club. It continues to be one of my favorite stories.

Some deep lessons, kinda sad AF, twists, an ending I figured out; but this book was written in a way that made me feel like I was there/could see the story unfolding. Not a favorite but a good one.
