I enjoyed the mystery that unfolded throughout the story. Weatherly doing everything to figure out how her cousin died and to solve some mysteries about her past. I did feel for her being manipulated by her grandmother. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the witchcraft aspect and "talking death" out of people. That part didn't sit too well for me. Other than that, it was a wonderful story.
This book was good not great but good. I did like Weatherly's magic. It was a neat idea of being able to talk the dead out of people. I did like the character of Weatherly.I think the author wrote her well enough that even though sometimes she could be selfish she was still likeable. Would recommend.

This story was such a charming, mysterious, heartbreaking and magical one. One of the best parts about it is that the characters feel so damn real & relatable. Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves southern settings, Appalachian folk magic, or mysteries.
Beautiful descriptions paired with details that come together in an unexpected way by the end makes this a favorite read of 2024 for me. I was drawn back to the story anytime I had to put it down because it was so engaging. The writing was amazing.
