Interviewer 1: Is it true that in 2000 you attended a TLC concert and cried during "Waterfalls"? The photos were so grainy that nobody could tell if it was you or an overemotional mortal man.

Look, I know that I said in my last review that I am not a big fan of pop culture in books, but The God and the Gwisin did it in a way that didn't take away from the book. Seokga is a God and has lived through so many years, it kind of fits.

The last book of this duology surprised me, much like how The God and the Gumiho surprised me.

We continue where the previous book ended and this time we're on a cruise! To the underworld, but minor details! I swear, this book did what I think Voyage of the Damned wanted to be and it actually read like an adult book. A murder takes place and now Seokga and Kisa have to figure out whodunnit before its too late because the stakes are quite high in this book. A time limit is given and you get this great angst that isn't too angst.

Seokga is nonchalant as ever and funny. I loved having Somi back. I'm glad her arc was completed and we got an ending for her. The relationship between Seokga and Hwanin is relatable and becomes more unhinged in this book.

I was surprised that I liked Kisa, considering how much I loved Hani in the first book. It worked out so well. Even if the person who did it wasn't as surprising, the ride was fun and that's all that matters.

Plus .5 stars because Hwanung plays Cookie Run and so do I, hahaha.

Okay, currently reading. My predictions:

1. Hajun has to be Hyun-tae reincarnated.  I'm calling it now with the way him and Somi are seemingly growing feelings. I'm honestly very invested in Somi's return to the narrative, lowkey wish she gets her own book.

2. Seogka and Hwanin's father is in some way shape or form behind Hwanin's murder. He's been mentioned suspiciously too much throughout this book.

Idk this book is really tugging at my heartstrings. I'm soo curious about the end, because if they succeed, and they should,  then Kisa will be reincarnated again... does that mean that this whole reincarnation journey will happen againnn with Seogka, because I truly don't know if I can handle that. Will update when finished.

Final thoughts:

FUCCCKKKKKKK I love this series.
Okay, 1. It was not confirmed if Hajun was Hyun-tae reincarnated, but Seokga did say that the idol reminded him of Hyun-tae, so I call that a win. And 2. I'm so smart because I was correct about the
father plotline.

I was a little worried toward the beginning of the book because I loveddd Hani, but I loved the scene toward the end where she confirmed to Kisa that they are the same soul. The romance was soooo good. This series also has just the perfect amount of smut where I'm satisfied with the relationship but I'm not overwhelmed with the amount of graphic content. I'm so glad that
Kisa didnt get reincarnated, because I dont know if I could handle that grief for another round.
The mystery was solid, the characters are so so lovable. I loved the return and redemption of Somi. I laughed, I cried, just ughh. My new favorite series.

The new question is whether there will be another book? It kind of left off like there could be, but I'm curious if it would again be centered on Seokga and Kisa... can I please get a book with Somi and Hajun.

Feeling rather conflicted. The reincarnation was fine, but the romance-focused plot took away from the main plot more than I liked. Lots of repetition in concepts. Villian seemed obvious.
