šŸ’• Book 3: 4 stars
Series: 4.5 stars šŸ’•

This series came highly recommended from a few people, and I definitely understand why. Itā€™s dark and erotic, and it features pretty much my favorite kind of alpha male: an obsessed villain. Julian Esguerra will definitely go down as one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time. Heā€™s morally bankrupt, and he doesnā€™t apologize for it. He knows exactly who he is, a man that takes what he wants regardless of the consequences. If I didnā€™t know from the beginning that he loved Nora, I wouldā€™ve hated him. But per usual, Anna Zaires did a tremendous job creating a complex villain that I couldnā€™t bring myself to outright despise. I hated what he did at times, but his obsession with Nora was so intense that it was hard to fathom what else he couldā€™ve done besides exactly what he did.

My only complaint with the trilogy is that it became a little redundant. Nora knows Julian is evil, he does something shitty to her, she gets mad and then gets over it when he whips his dick out. Itā€™s not that she didnā€™t have a right to get mad- she absolutely did. But why get mad if you know you wonā€™t stand up for yourself anyway? You know who he is. Seems like a waste of energy. That being said, I rarely read trilogies straight through, and I think this wouldā€™ve been avoided if I broke it up a little.

The sex in this series was off-the-charts hot. Itā€™s suspenseful and at times brutal. Itā€™s dub-con and at times non-con, and it isnā€™t fantasy. Itā€™s dark and real. Itā€™s like a different world, and I did respect Nora for adjusting in the way she did. I also liked that Zaires made Julian unapologetically evil, but still able to connect with other humans. He was a product of his environment, not a psychopath or a sociopath.

I would recommend this series to anyone that can handle some triggers and wants to read about an obsessed villain and his queen. Julian and Nora are definitely unforgettable!!

It feels like so long ago that I started this series and to finally read the conclusion of it.. is just so satisfying. Julian and Nora have always been there in the back of my mind, I love their happily ever after, and finally a conclusion to the story.

Iā€™m actually angry I even bothered finishing this series. I love a dark romance but this took it to another level and was unabashedly a story about abuse towards a young woman. If you canā€™t hang with rape, grooming, or abuse when itā€™s non consensual, stay far away from this. This had Jeffrey Epstein vibes. The main Hā€™s initials are even JE (Julian Esguerra). He rapes her during book 3 and only somewhat feels remorse after? (I think while she is pregnant or shortly after a miscarriage?) I canā€™t remember but it was sickening to read. Then they donā€™t even really address it. Iā€™m all for the dark, brooding, possessive, alphahole but this was just too much actual abuse.

I wish triggers would have been more apparent before I started it.

The main H was completely unredeemable, it ends with him finally admitting he loves her after 3 books? Then it ends? Like that was supposed to be an HEA? What a joke. This book was toxic as hell and made me angry that my OCD forces me to finish series cause I wanted to DNF 30% through book 1

Iā€™m super disappointed in how many good reviews this book has.
