4.5 rounded down to 4. I have mascara running down my cheeks. She did THAT and the last chapter / epilogue / last sentence are in my life forever. I am legit SICK to my stomach right now ugh I love Suzy!!

EDIT: When Buttercup came back I full on lost it. And Team Peeta for Life! She needs the warmth not the harshness!!

prior to reading this one i had read some other reviews and noted that some people found this book too be "uneventful" or "too bleak". i agree with both of these assessments but i still loved this book.
katniss' trauma from the games, her guilt from all of the deaths, and her confusion around being puppetted by everyone around her was written very well. the ending was very realistic with no dramatic scene of katniss sneaking into the mansion to kill snow and instead katniss getting knocked back by an explosion and waking up to find out that the rebels as a whole had won and not the sole acts of the Mockingjay.

bleak, tragic, and realistic. 5/5 still an excellent book despite me being 10+ years older than the first time i read this series. would absolutely recommend that anyone who hasn't read this series, or who hasn't read it since childhood, should give it a re-read. it reads like a children/teen novel with no subtlety but it is still an excellent read.

and again, katniss does not deserve peeta.

I know a lot of people think this was a bad ending to a great series. I have to disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed Mockingjay.
It wasn't the best book in the series, but what finale can ever live up to its first? Katniss is a great heroine, someone who is great to read about, who is crazy and sometimes weak, but she's real. She has flaws, and sometimes they overtake her.
Aside from Katniss, Gale's actions felt completely in character. I never really liked him (he was ruthless for the sake of it), and wasn't surprised at his actions. Peeta's brainwashing may have been brushed over a little, but I didn't mind.

The only real issue I had with anything in the book was the transition from the ending chapter to the epilogue. It's a bit too sudden
Spoiler and I would have preferred to see more interaction between Katniss and Peeta after the "Real or not real?" conversation.
I would also have loved to know more about Annie and the baby she had after Finnick's death. It's a small thing, but I really did love those two together.

Anyways, This is a legitimately good final book of a trilogy. Things are wrapped up, not always in the way you want, but in a way that feels right.

I'll give my basic thoughts. 1) Screw Gale. 2) Peeta deserves the world (and I won't ever forgive Suzanne Collins for what she did to him) 3) There's many unnecessary deaths in this. 4) See 3, screw Gale. 5) Bring back therapy in Panem. 6) The epilogue is a bit out of pocket still. 7) Screw Gale. 8) Listen to the audiobooks of this series. It's seriously so well done, and you won't regret it.
