In Five Years

I really enjoyed this book. The twists and turns had me guessing about the 5 years timeline. I wasn’t sure if it was love, cheating, a drunken night or what. Definitely sits heavy in your heart at the end. I believe that Bella left her someone to love, Dr. Shaw. Very well written book.

I'll tell you what happens in five years. She gets a dream about getting dirty with a guy who ends up being her best friend's boyfriend. And yet, she still recreates the dream with him, while her best friend is dying from cancer.

Long review -

The book started off okay and it got promising with the 5 year premonition plot but suddenly it was just abandoned and it moved to 5 years later. This is where Dannie finds out that the man she dreamed of being with 5 years in the future is Bella (her bestie)’s new boyfriend. And suddenly now Bella has cancer. The writing seems messy and unorganized and rushed. I feel like a lot of better things could have been done with the premonition thingy. It just kept getting worse. Absolute hot mess of a book.

I’d like the hour I spent reading this back please. Instead of the current title it should be ‘In Five Years Your Life Will Fucking Suck, Your Fiancé Will Be Gone and Your Best Friend Will Be Dead.’ Too wordy?

Beautiful and incredibly heartbreaking.

This is a novel about how a woman determines to meticulously plan out her life, specifically in 5 years from when the novel begins. She has a vision of the future that scares her, and she does her best to prevent it from coming true. In 4.5 years, her life has completely turned upside down after the loss of her best friend and fiancé. In the aftermath, she realizes that her vision did come true, but not in the way she initially understood her future would turn out to be. In the end, the woman who was initially so controlled and precise learns that she cannot plan for the future and she must go with the flow, and she’s okay with that.
