One last book for 2010! This was quite a silly Heyer—I found myself giggling a lot. :) The characters are delightfully ridiculous, as are the 18th-century fashions, and I loved the sly interjections of the narrator from time to time (at least in the beginning). A good read for a good laugh!
This made me laugh, plus I love this time period where guys spent as much time, if not more, on their looks as girls. Actually, I found the exchange between Philip and Cleone (still have no idea how to pronounce her name) about looks vs. personality very interesting. As always, I love Georgette Heyer. This is a short one - her 2nd book, I believe, but totally enjoyable and worth reading if you like her other stuff.

Light gothic romance fiction, among my Mom's favorites. Considerably better than the average gothic romance. Some of them are more like historical fiction, such as Simon the Coldheart. I read them from time to time when I was growing up.
This girl actually said “I won’t marry you because you’re a country bumpkin,” and instead of going off and marrying someone else, he went and got dandified for her. Like boyyyyy!

Phillip Jettan comes from a long line of bad boys. However, he just wants to live and work on the family farm! When his sweetheart spurns him for not having more town polish, he heads to France to learn polish. Upon returning, he presents the perfect gentleman...but is that what his beloved really wanted?
Entertaining and brief, but a bit sexist. I like Phillip. Less enamored with Cleone. Still, an enjoyable, light read.

Yep, silly. I wanted to yell at Philip and Cleone throughout just to get it done with. My first Heyer book. I will think about reading more.
