The way this book perfectly captures the magic of Christmas with family while also detailing the difficulties and hardships that come with family (and others) being stuck in close quarters during a holiday is beautiful. You alternate between the POVs of three of the female protagonists and you get to see the insight into all the many relationships within the book. The main theme is “don’t keep secrets” but the underlying message is the importance of communication, as well as giving the other person a chance to feel/respond/react/choose as they are entitled to. Don’t make the decision or choice for them under an “assumption.”
Incredible book, hilarity of new guests, crazy accidents, melding of past and current relationships and troubles, and just…perfect capture of family time during the holidays.

What do you get when you throw a large group of individuals together in one cabin for Christmas; all with varying personalities and most who are meeting for the first time? One Big Happy Family

When low-key holiday plans change for mother-of-two Julie and her younger boyfriend, Heath, the pair must scramble to set up a holiday wonderland for 10+ at the family cabin. With moments of unexpected chaos, embarrassment, joy, and love, the group finds themselves coming together to create one memorable Christmas holiday.

Susan Mallery was able to piece and weave together such beautiful family dynamics. The relationships between the characters felt very authentic-I could picture each family having their own type of Julie, Gwen, Axel, and Dana…among other characters!

One Big Happy Family was a sweet, fast paced holiday novel that will feel like a Hallmark movie. Grab a cozy blanket, mug of cocoa, and dive into Christmas time at the cabin!

A very sweet, short Christmas story, very reminiscent of a Netflix special. Plenty of antics, comedy, heart, and characters you love to hate. I will not, however, EVER forgive the author for having me root for and love a man named HEATH.

A solid holiday read. I loved all of the family dynamics, and I loved the inclusion of friends and strangers at the holiday celebrations.

3.5⭐️ So many characters and storylines, I feel like I have whiplash from all the back and forth. The audio performance was good, but story was hard to follow with all the characters and how they are related. Story was just ok.

Meh. I was hoping for a lot more comedy. There wasn’t any really funny scenes. Mostly drama.

Fun holiday read! Big, family dramas are my cup of tea. Some moments were ridiculous but overall wholesome.
