There was so much going on in this book, I was overwhelmed. & I get that’s probably the point but even coming from a huge family with overwhelming Christmas celebrations, this was almost too much. I did enjoy the story lines although there’s nothing at all believable.

I cannot even with this audiobook narrator’s constant and loud inhalations. Why did the sound engineer do nothing about this? It is so distracting that I couldn’t focus on the story.
From the book blurb, it sounds as if, one by one, a dozen people are crammed into a one house for a day or two around Christmas. It's actually a "cabin" that rivals the mansions on The Bachelor. There are at least six bedrooms, three floors, a screening room, AND a present wrapping room. It's easy to co-exist when everyone gets a room with a real bed and a door.
While the characters do have some challenges, the conflicts in the book felt manufactured and minor. Maybe it was because for the first 2/3 of the book it was constantly talking - but not doing anything -about age gap, the mother-in-law, the IBS, and the serial dumper guy. Realistically, there could have been so may chaotic and comedic moments with that many different personalities in one (gigantic) house. Instead there are two very well-behaved young children, polite and helpful house guests and not one, but two!, sets of extraordinarily cordial ex-spouses.
Overall, the book just didn't resonate with me. For that reason, I could not give it a rose. Please say your goodbyes and leave the mansion.

I don’t know if this just wasn’t meant for me or if it was genuinely boring. All of the family drama aspects were resolved far too easily or shouldn’t have been considered drama and issues to begin with. I loved the idea of a badass independent woman who owns a towing company but even Julie got to be a bit too much to stand after awhile. The most redeeming part of this book was Blair and Gwen’s relationship evolution.

I found this to be a fine book but just not for me. Normal family drama in a book I just didn’t care about. The characters felt boring and everything just didn’t matter to me.
