This book was... interesting. It was weird, and otherworldly, and oddly real.

This is a beautifully written re-telling of The Orpheus and Eurydice myth that modernizes the tale without losing the classic quality of the myth or becoming predictable. Almond weaves a wonderful tale of love in an innovative way by introducing a new character into the tale. This character narrates their love story and adds a voice of reason needed in the story. It was breath taking, unique, and timeless. I would definitely recommend this book to those who love a good love story, are interested in Greek mythology, and enjoy a good read from start to finish.

I have to give this book 4 stars because it really is beautiful art. Almond is very good at the metaphorical story. I'm just not in the mood for a sad tale of something beautiful being adored, worshipped, then misunderstood, maligned, and destroyed.

Ok so I love Hadestown so I thought a book would be great. Sadly that is not the case, because I have found it aggravating when there is lyrics/songs in books because it is hard to really know the beat and most people skip them. The story was what I expect though some parts I was confused. I am just happy to be finished with it

Apparently I like retellings of the Orpheus myth, because I liked this almost as much as All Our Pretty Songs. The stories are similar in tone and feeling, but the setting is much different.

It was a very interesting book. It is one of those books you have to reread to understand, but it was a very good book about friendship.

An excellent book, and beautifully written. Even though it might seem petty, a big part of the reason for this being four, rather than five stars is 'bliddy' - I just found that spelling so jarring throughout that it made it harder to lose myself in an otherwise gorgeous piece of storytelling.

I got this book from the publisher on NetGalley in exchange of an honest review.

This book is a retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice's romance, I happen to love greek mythology and when I realized this book was a modern twist on this story I inmediately got very excited.

This book is seen through a third person's POV and it is to me a refreshing change. First person books are sometimes lacking the intensity of others but the main characters.

As the story develops we have this incredible moments of intesity where I just couldn't put the book down. I got so incredibly touched by some of the passages in this book that it brought me to actual tears.

Since I started I knew that it was going to be a tragedy, however this didn't stop me from getting attached to the characters and heartbroken over the ending.

I adored this book. 4.5 stars for me.
