It was a very interesting book. It is one of those books you have to reread to understand, but it was a very good book about friendship.

An excellent book, and beautifully written. Even though it might seem petty, a big part of the reason for this being four, rather than five stars is 'bliddy' - I just found that spelling so jarring throughout that it made it harder to lose myself in an otherwise gorgeous piece of storytelling.

I got this book from the publisher on NetGalley in exchange of an honest review.

This book is a retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice's romance, I happen to love greek mythology and when I realized this book was a modern twist on this story I inmediately got very excited.

This book is seen through a third person's POV and it is to me a refreshing change. First person books are sometimes lacking the intensity of others but the main characters.

As the story develops we have this incredible moments of intesity where I just couldn't put the book down. I got so incredibly touched by some of the passages in this book that it brought me to actual tears.

Since I started I knew that it was going to be a tragedy, however this didn't stop me from getting attached to the characters and heartbroken over the ending.

I adored this book. 4.5 stars for me.

No, uh uh. Where is my David Almond? I'm vaguely unsatisfied with this book, and annoyed by all the things that hinted at greatness but never fully reached it. Pf.

Oh my word - this book is beautiful! It is sure to be on the Carnegie short list. It has a mythical quality reminiscent of Sedgwick's Midwinterblood, but far more dreamlike in quality. It is a modern re telling of the story of Orpheous and Eurydice. As with Almond's earlier story Skellig you are never sure which parts of this are dream and which reality. This all adds to the dreamlike quality of the book. You will finish this reluctantly with the dream still clinging to you. A must have, must read book.

3.5. I really liked tinge idea of this book. I love retellings of ancient stories and I think the part of this book that was a retellings was really interesting and cool to read. I didn't love the writing style and I think it took a little bit of time to really get into the story. That being said, I read this right after finishing an insanely good series so I think that definitely had some effect in the way I read the story. I did like it but it definitely took a little time to get into.

This is another book I really wanted to love but just didn't. I've read a few of those lately! The greek myth that inspired it is such a captivating one that should leave you heartbroken but it's just too tricky to connect with A Song for Ella Grey so instead of heartbreak I got a sort of relief that I'd reached the end :( It's beautifully written but the narrative felt a bit broken so I was easily distracted. Not for me I'm afraid.

This was a beautifully written book but I felt some themes could have been explored more
SpoilerClaire's feelings for Ella for example.
