Overall, this was a fun read and I loved the writing style. The banter, character relationships, and dynamics were great.

However, I absolutely, positively, Hated Bea. Dating the attorney of her best friend’s ex? That didn’t do it for me. I didn’t think she had enough development, didn’t address her challenges with her mother and the ending was very abruptly “life is great!” without feeling like the growth was there.

The love story would’ve worked better if Nate had been just a substitute professor, even her boss. It might have pushed it closer to 4 ⭐️ territory for me despite the lack of depth. It would’ve given it just a fluffy romance vibe without the extra infuriating component of Jillian getting completely shafted.

So, overall, great, fun, fluffy romance. Infuriating main character…a little contradictory I’ll admit…but apparently you can like a book and hate the main character. Who knew!
medium-paced

I quite enjoyed this—great chemistry between the main characters. Could have used a better editor to get rid of some repetitive writing. I also think maybe I prefer two points of view in my romance, but Bea was an interesting character.
Maybe the resolution with her mom was a little too easy and it bugged me that the title didn’t really make sense until the very end!

DID NOT FINISH: 0%

The author doesn’t have a good understanding of New York, or people who live there, which threw me out of the loop. (No, the streets would not be empty of cabs at 10pm, nor would the subway be too scary to take.) I also just didn’t like Bea. At all. And I felt it is deceptive not to mention in the blurb that she is a STUDENT and he a teacher, NOT colleagues.
