Excellent novel. Heavily entwined with religious constructs, but still showcasing some truly evil people. Would recommend!
What a great book. C.J. Tudor is just an author I enjoy reading. She really keeps me guessing and trying to figure out where she is going. I enjoyed the twists and turns and just sat back for the ride.
As usual I liked the character development and found the pacing good. Flo and Jack as the main characters were great. One thing I did find confusing was which character (of which there are many) we are reading from sometimes, but I think that this was the point.
I did figure out some of the plot points/mysteries, but definitely not all of them! Such a good read. I will continue to pick up this author's books in the future!

This had a surprising amount of very good quotes in it that I really liked! I think this did drag on at times and made me feel like this might be only a 3 star, but overall the mysteries kept cropping back up as I would start to get a bit bored, and there were a few different subplots to keep things interesting: the Flo storyline, the Jack storyline, and the Jacob storyline.
Me being me, I wish there had been more supernatural elements, but I’m definitely all about stories with holy things/people/places mixed with evil things/people/places. It had some creepy moments.
A couple of the mysteries/reveals I was able to sus out well before, a couple I didn’t. The last hour or so of the audiobook was really riveting! A pretty darn good small-town mystery thriller with just a splash of the supernatural.

⭐⭐⭐.5 /5
The Burning Girls has been a highly anticipated read for me, and unfortunately, it fell a little flat compared to my expectations.
The book started strong with an exorcism gone wrong and then takes you to the introduction of Jack, the vicar who has a dark past and plenty of secrets.
With the beginning of the book so strong and the underlying plot of ghosts and exorcism, I was hoping for more of a paranormal twist that was sadly left out.
Though I found the vicar gone wanna be private eye interesting, I felt that there were a few subplots that could have been expanded on further to give the reader even deeper chills as you uncover more and more of the secrets the church hides.
