Some wonderful twists and turns in this novel made in an all-nighter for me: well worth it!

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes
dark mysterious sad tense

Entertaining, but I really hate an ending that comes out of nowhere

This book is creepy and weird and has plenty of stuff happens. I didn’t like how predictable the characters were; if you paid attention you could probably figure it out somewhat. I loved the setting and that the vicar was a woman. In my mind she is Emma Thompson so I really really loved her character.

A bit too much going on here. The Burning Girls mythos wasn’t well integrated in here. It felt more like a weird footnote than anything. Several twists were pretty guessable, and the murderer reveal of “two psychopathic teens” wasn’t my favorite. Also, the serial killer brother was just.....??????? It didn’t mean anything at all?? I feel like the author had some interesting threads and then jammed them all into this book and barely any of them paid off.

LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! One of my favorite reads of this year! Do yourself a favor and read it
