Good thriller/mystery
Wish there was a bit more about the burning girls and Jack's history
Liked the references to The Usual Suspects
Felt a little unfinished with her brother

I was all set to give this 4 stars as was very much enjoying the book, the narrator, the pace, storyline was interesting and just the right side of spooky but then the book lost me towards the end and I ended up feeling very frustrated by it. I cannot go into more detail without giving things away though and so I will leave it at that for this one.

I genuinely enjoyed it (and even ready to call C.J. Tudor one of my favourite authors - those whose books I'll be eager to read no matter the plot), however it's not 5/5, 'cause I felt my attention slipping away around 50% of the story - explains the "reading 20 pages and forgetting about it for the next couple of days" way of dealing with this book.

8/10 Perfect book for October spooky season. Good twists. Slow-ish start then really really picks up!
dark mysterious tense medium-paced

Okay, the story of this book was amazing. Twisty, with several different mysteries going on at once, an awesome lead, a great concept.
However, the one thing that made me take a star off of my rating was the style of writing. It felt very fragmented, the sentences much too short which left me feeling like the the story itself was too choppy.
