“You can't fight a hurricane with half an umbrella.”
➽ This Coven Won't Break is the final book in this Duology and digs deeper into the conflict between witches and witch hunters. The tone of this story differs from the first one, as it's much darker and not as focused on the small-town life. I didn't mind, as we got to see the larger witch community and how they deal with a new threat. The hunters have now found a way to take away a witch's magic without their consent in order to 'cure' them and Hannah might be the only person who can stop them. The plot is fast-paced, as she joins a special task force that aims to stop the hunters.
➽ Hannah also still deals with the grief of losing her father and the trauma of being kidnapped by the hunters and almost executed along with her ex Veronica. I liked that the story discussed the different ways in which Veronica and Hannah cope with what happened to them. Veronica has cut herself off from all of it in order to protect herself, but Hannah cannot help but still be involved, even though she's struggling with her magic. I really liked seeing how supportive her girlfriend Morgan was, as she's always there for her in these difficult times, despite still dealing with prejudices against her own coven.
➽ The only thing I didn't like was Alice, she grated on my nerves so much. The author tried to introduce her as this cool new character, but it didn't work. Aluce is the blood witch that attacked Hannah prior to the start of the series and while both of them made their mistakes, she's far from a victim. Sadly, the story mainly consists of her blaming Hannah for everything and assaulting her even when they are supposed to be on the same side. It made me so uncomfortable, how her behavior was never called out and how Hannah just took all the abuse because she thought she deserved it!

The characters are amazing and the plot twist with such an unexpected villain and I guess some redemption kind of arc of a villain from the first book definitely suprised me.
But overall these are good reads and would recommend. They’re just not my all time faves as a duology. Just missing out on the five star that only all time faves get with me.
