This is such a good family dramedy, just like The Last Summer at the Golden Hotel! I laughed super hard, cried, and generally fell in love with the Feldman-Connolly clan during this family-cruise-gone-wrong book. I highly recommend this if you're in a Type A Jewish family with lots of drama, I empathized highly with the book. I really love how Friedland is able to get inside the minds of so many different characters, it's her great talent! There wasn't one chapter from a different perspective that I didn't want to listen to :)

I really enjoyed this one! I didnt love it as much as I loved LAST SUMMER AT THE GOLDEN HOTEL but I really enjoyed it! I loved the family and being able to read all the different points of view, giving us a deeper understanding of the family. I loved the Jewish rep!

Comical family drama on the high seas! Annette decides to take her family on a cruise for her 70th birthday and gets more than she bargained for. Secrets are revealed, blows are exchanged and bonds are somehow still mended over the course of one eventful week. A fun and heart-warming read with exceptional character development.

This held my attention and I'm glad I read it. However, I don't agree with many of the reviews that describe this as hilarious...I didn't find much funny in this book, in fact, I found it/the situations rather sad.

Family secrets revealed, humor and heartfelt on the open seas. The Feldmans face the truths that they’ve been ignoring. I enjoyed reading this light hearted book.

A great story of how we often don't know the people we're related to. Annette is turning 70 and decides to force her adult children, teenage grandchildren, and husband to celebrate her big day on a cruise. Of course each family member is harboring secrets that come spilling out once in close quarters. Sprinkled into the story the reader also gets to hear from Julian, the cruise director. His view of forced family togetherness from his years on the job have made him jaded. I wish there was more of his story, especially in the wrap up at the end.

Fun, light read

A sweet family drama/comedy. If you want something light and fun, easy to read with a bit of suspense, you’re in for a treat!

Though the writing is clunky, the ending too tidy, and the storylines implausible — launching a literary journal as a second career?! a secret marijuana millionaire? a body conscious yogi not knowing she's pregnant? — this novel served as a nice, easy, breezy cruise.
