Salt Kiss focuses on an ex-army vet bored with the monotony of his civilian life and the nightmares that come from his time in the military.
Tristian inability to feel like a part of his society decides to work for Mark Taverna, a man with many mysteries, and rumors of his shady dealings.
The author did a beautiful job with Tristian's personality. He is humanly flawed, naive, and carried himself with a sort of shameless innocence that drew other characters to him. I felt more of connection to Tristian than any of the other characters and felt that I needed maybe just a bit more (that I'm sure is to come in later books) from Tristian and his past.
I enjoyed never knowing whether I felt that Mark was genuine or his actions had ulterior motives, and knowing that whatever the answer Tristian would be there anyways.
I was captured after the first few chapters, but the "slice of life" descriptions and build up may not be for everyone.

The first 2/3 of this book dragged on forever and you don’t see Isolde till the last 3rd. BUT it was super steamy and I loved it and hate that I have to wait until book 3 is out.
I didn't realize when I decided to pick this up after reading Salt in the Wound that this took place in the same universe as the New Camelot series and while that's not a huge deal, I probably should have finished that series first to avoid spoilers.
This is a bit more mysterious than the previous books of Simone's that I've read and I'm here for it. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the relationship between Mark and Tristan until the final chapter when I immediately jumped into the next book because I needed to know how this all comes together (ha).

A spicy MMF "retelling" of Tristan and Isolde; The first 75% or so is all Tristan and his uncle-in-law Mark.
I was thoroughly entertained, and Oscar is a great narrator for the audiobook. I had no idea this was supposed to be part of a series, but now I'm hooked and need to read Honey Cut as soon as it comes out!!

I didn’t find any of the characters likable. Based on the description I read this sounded more like a throuple but it was just a love triangle.
