There are no words for what I do. Even obsession doesn’t capture the swiftness and intensity with which I can fall in love. And like an infection, my obsession needs only the tiniest cut, the shallowest scrape to take root. A single glance, a kind word as I’m handed a cup of coffee.
With Sierra Simon, you're always in for an erotic literary spectacle when it comes to her books and Salt Kiss was no different—it unfurls the beginning of a deliciously forbidden MMF love triangle which features a bodyguard whose heart belongs to not only his boss but also his boss's soon-to-be bride.
While I liked the book in general but I guess it still felt an incomplete book to me. I wish we had more of Isolde in this one. Maybe because I read the Novella Salt in the Wound before reading this so I got attached to her. The last quarter also felt rushed so I didn't get enough but I guess that's why there is a sequel.
Sierra is one of the very few authors who I can trust to write an interesting sub/dom dynamic and include different kinks that feel organic to the characters and their desires. It doesn't feel forced. The angsty tension between Tristan and Mark was delightful but what I really needed was to get into Mark's head.
I think the book would've benefitted from adding Mark and Isolde's POVs and not just rely on Tristan sole first-person narration because I did get bored being in his head sometimes.
Tristan is an utter cinnamon despite being an ex-soldier and once he falls, he falls hard.
I have to say THAT ENDING has me excited for the sequel Honey Cut and things are indeed about to heat up for those three!
Content warnings: features graphic sexual content and character dealing with PTSD.

I thought we were going to get more of Isolde and Mark in this book but that’s not what happened.

[NOTE: you must read the novella “Salt In The Wound PRIOR to reading this book]
Sierra Simone continues to prove that she can write a damn story! This book was so hard not to binge in one sitting, (so I binged it in two).
I’m a huge fan of the story of Tristan and Isolde, so I was definitely the target audience for this book right out of the gate. (Anyone else sob while watching the early 2000’s film?). This story is an incredible new take on the original with fresh perspectives and relatable situations - but it’s Sierra Simone so it will of course have a twist.
I first started the Camelot series last year and that is when I learned that Sierra Simone writes erotica on a different plane of existence than her peers - but like the Camelot series, this is so much more than smut. This is intrigue and mystery and decadent characters with rich histories that are convoluted with one another. There is angst and heartbreak and romance and lust and everything in between. There are dark moments peppered in with sweet scenes. It feels like the pinnacle of the morally grey hero.
I feel like this is a great starter for someone dipping into dark romance or even BDSM themes.
This book is part of a trilogy and book two doesn’t come out until June of 2024. Salt Kiss ends on what I would call a “soft cliffhanger”. Something that is definitely able to be read now with some patience for the next book, but the whole thing is so well written that maybe you’d rather wait. Either way, this book comes highly recommended by me.

Gobbled this up in one day, I think I read like 60% of this in one sitting? There’s just something about Sierra Simone’s writing and characters that hooks me in! I genuinely will read anything she writes.
I was so excited to return to the world of New Camelot (a series I should have rated 5 stars because I genuinely still think about it) and Lyonesse is like a warm hug back into that world, but slightly less political (a plus in my book!).
Tristan is a sweet baby angel. He’s a soldier just returned from war (those dang Carpathians) and has done the unthinkable while over there. He’s lonely and struggling with himself and what he wants from life. Enter Mark, who clearly has his own demons but is lowkey obsessed with Tristan from the get-go.
I’m so excited for Isolde’s POV in the next book and to uncover more about Mark’s background. Because we only see Isolde for about 25% of this book she feels kind of mysterious to me and I’m very curious to see how she interacts with Mark.
Again, I think Sierra Simone is (my) queen of spice. She is SO GOOD at setting the scene and her characters and their actions are genuinely realistic and engaging.
I need to start Honey Cut ASAP and I’m devastated I have to wait 9 months for Bitter Burn!

Have mercy. Jeeeez. Did I immediately want to jump into Honey Cut? Yes. Did I? No. Bc I know book 3 is ages away and I cannot do that to myself. This is the Sierra Simone I know and love.

This sweet sweet man just wants to be wanted! Tristan and Mark’s dynamic was nothing if not maddening and incredibly sexy, indecent, and decadent. Isolde? Please. She met her match and then some.
