4.75 i spent most of the story torn between loving & hating how open tristan was in his inner & outter dialogue about how badly he wanted/needed mark.. HOWEVER their spice??? more than made up for what my personal emotional vulnerability struggled with haha. watching tristan work through what it meant to want to be submissive for mark but love the dominance he received from isolde was so real for me & my own journey with sexuality. feeling like there’s only 1 or “right way” to connect & then working through what ACTUALLY makes you feel connection, secure, powerful, ect was so so good. i can’t wait to see more of his & isolde’s self discovery & self acceptance in that area as the stories go on. the only reason it was a 5 for me is i feel like if we’re going to reference tristan’s trauma from service as much as we did than we just need to know the whole story

This book is kinky, angsty, twisted, and full of flawed and passionate people. As Mark himself says, "There are no heroes," but you'll be rooting for our MC anyway.
Our MC, Tristan, is a fractured soul, and I worried that I would feel he was being taken advantage of (because Mark is most certainly not a good man), but Sierra really wrote him so well.
It was almost a 5 star read, but I felt like we didn't get much progression through the first third of the book, and I was just waiting for something to happen. Of course, then it did, and the last 2/3 were fantastic.
