Admittedly, I almost gave up on this early on because the female lead seemed too immature, as other reviewers have mentioned.  Once the story got going and other characters were introduced, it became more fun.  By the end, the female lead had definitely grown as a person in all that she had learned about herself.  Although the focus was mostly on her, the same could be said for the male lead,
so it lead to a right time-right person type of ending, over 12 years in the making.

Happy Pub Day!! 🥳🥰

Whew! This was my first read by Falon Ballard, and it most certainly won't be my last! A huge thanks to NetGalley, Falon Ballard, and Penguin Group Putnam for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book has all the vibes of a early 2000 romcom, and I was totally here for it! (think How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days)

Lana Parker is a love and relationships columnist for a LA- publication, who gets the shock of her life, when her ex-boyfriend shows up as the new hire for her company. Lana has been a serial-monogamist since Seth broke her heart 12 years ago, and she suddenly finds herself single right before he arrives in town. To make matters worse, her boss uses her single-ness to her advantage to pit Lana and Seth against each other for a position in her dream job.

You could feel the tension between Lana and Seth, and there was the perfect blend of chemistry, angst and banter. I love a single first POV and a good slow burn, and this checked both of those boxes. 😍 (also - sunflowers 🌻😭 IYKYK)

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶🌶 (two open door scenes)

Tropes: Second Chance Romance, Enemies to Lovers, Workplace Romance

CW: abandonment

This book is published today, so definitely grab a copy if you haven't pre-ordered!

I really enjoyed reading this book! I actually preferred this one over Lease on Love. This book is perfect for pop culture girlies (it is filled with all the references!) Plus, this book gives off the perfect How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibes. I love that the humor and banter of the characters is paired up with the introspective and emotional journey of the main character Lana. I found the way Lana and Seth’s dynamic played out to be interesting- we love a second chance romance with a side of chaotic drama! I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for book that successfully balances emotions and lighthearted fun.

This book was so chaotic, but I really did enjoy myself.

Lana and Seth are both very flawed main characters, which I liked and did not like.
That said, I was of course rooting for them despite their major communication issues.

The book moved quickly and was an excellent rom com! Highly recommend if you liked Lease on Love.
