Fun (in places) read, eccentric, sometimes charming with strong characters up to dodgy things. I’m not sure if I enjoyed it overall. Definitely of its time with some of the language. Disturbing last two sentences.

Such great characterisation and storytelling helped by spectacular narration by Tim Pigott-Smith. The only thing that I felt let it down was the speed of the ending.

Although it involves travel, this book is much more of a character study than an adventure. The three or four main characters could not have been more different and yet they completely complement each other. This book is packed full of wit and humorous eccentricity. Deliciously dark and delightful read!
