Meh. Some useful information, but a little extreme for me. I guess I'm not meant to be a skinny bitch.

This was so good and informative! I’m on my health journey, lol, so I wanted to read this as I saw a lot of people talking about it. I have already been a lazy vegan for the past 7 years (still eating seafood but not any other animal products) but this gave me a new perspective on what that means all together. I honestly didn’t know about how disgusting the meat industry was and now I have a new perspective on my veganism. There were such good tips and diet related recommendations that I will be implementing into my daily routine. As well as ensuring that I use as many natural and organic products as possible. I have always known that your mindset is key to changing your reality, so this is a really good book which emphasizes that as well. Overall this is a really good book for people that need extra information and tough love when it comes to making healthier choices.

well, I heard that this was funny. And it is. Crassly, shockingly funny. However, I am now eating more bagels than ever before b/c eating meat after reading the chapter on animal abuse in slaughter houses has turned me off beef, pork and chicken. It also nauseated me for about a day. Be forewarned that this book is less about health than it is about veganism. fyi, bitches.

This book is not for everyone. It is written with an in-your-face brashness that will certainly offend some. But I couldn't stop laughing. The first couple of chapters totally cracked me up. Then it got kind of boring at times. And it's not a great book by any stretch. But the b*tches make it hard to argue w/ their prescription to revolutionize your diet.

The information is good. The low ratings are for the heavy use of soy products. There isn't a whole lot of guidelines about how much you should eat to be healthy, but the information about the meat industry was right. Sometimes they skewed information to make it sound worse then what it could be. This wasn't wrong exactly, just not fully forthright either.

Decent book for anyone who wants some perspective on food but I wouldn't take it as the bible on how to eat. I definitely agree with the idea that people need to take care of their bodies but in some ways, I find this book a bit backwards? Also, the strong "skinny bitch" attitude can be off-putting. However the info in it can be valuable (i.e. they talk a lot about artificial sweeteners which I thought was important. It took 8 times for aspartame to pass the FDA). Omnivore's Dilemma is a better book but a harder read... I read Skinny Bitch in one day.

Don't read this book if you are easily offended by foul language or you have absolutely no sense of humor. If you already have vegetarian tendencies, like I do, you'll love this book. In fact, being a vegan never seemed easier - other than my addiction to cheese. Did I learn anything new - no I did not. But I did enjoy the book's reminding me of all that's wrong with the USDA, the EPA, the FDA, the meat industry in general.

This is such a quick read. It will really get you thinking about what you eat and at the very least make you more conscious. Its a bit over-dramatic and conspiracy theory-centered but it makes for good
entertainment!

This book kind of annoyed the crap out of me. I just felt like I have heard all of this information before in a far more believable academic style than this. I know that this book is meant to be for the average reader and that they are supposed to be "bitchy"... but really, all the cussing and calling people a fat lard and such just annoyed me. I get it, "tough love", whatever. But from what I've learned the last thing that will help you raise your self esteem is calling you a fat lard for the food choices you have made. Not to mention that they fail to recognize the fact that eating organic is not accessible to everyone. They do put about a paragraph in there about how you pay all this money for clothing and jewelry and such, why not for organic? New flash, not everyone has that kind of money. Yes, yes, I know... this book is probably not aimed at the populous that cannot afford to eat organic... but really? Perhaps it is my inner political feminist bashing at the walls but... I was not a huge fan of this book. Not in the least.

While it wasn't the best book I've ever read, I did appreciated the crass humor they added to what could have been a fairly dry topic.
