The chapter on factory farming and slaughter houses made me cry, but I still eat meat. The chapter on poo was my favorite. Otherwise, the voice and tone of the book annoyed me.
I was torn on what to say about this book. There was a lot of useful nutritional information and information about the food industry. I have been a vegetarian for over 17 years, and reading the comments from the slaughterhouse reaffirmed my decision.
I have to admit I was bothered by the language. I am not one to shy away from dropping f-bombs, but the constant crude language was distracting. Also annoying was feeling like I was being called a fat pig and a slob for most of the book. Tough love is one thing, but the tone of this book seemed more mean. The last chapter had a "love yourself and your body" theme that seemed disingenous after the preceding chapters.
I do applaud these two for spreading the message about the benefits of veganism. I have read Rory Freedman's column in VegNews and enjoy her writing there more than in this book.

very funny - but not convincing enough for me to turn into a vegan.
Wow. At the very least, everyone should read or listen to this book just for the 1st half of the book. You will really think about what you eat.
A little outrageous at times, but really funny. Very interesting take on this subject. I enjoyed it.
This book didn't really offer any real information...just a lot of swear words and some humor. If you're looking for a nutrition book, this isn't it.
Only got 40 pages in, but i'm not finishing this book. i dont like the message theyre sending & it just seems like information on top of information. im exchanging this for another book.
Scared the crap out of me and made me seriously rethink my eating habits. I converted to a pescatarian diet immediately after reading this book, but intentions to go vegan eventually.
Aside from the potty mouth language, it was a good read. Some helpful information and definitely makes me think about my health.
After reading the title, I thought it would be more about portion control and exercise. I felt like I was being badgered into being a vegan. Exercise was only mentioned for a very small section of the book. I had to skip over the chapter about slaughtering animals. I understand it was meant to deter me from eating meat. I also could not believe the extreme dislike for the different government agencies. I could not finish the book after all of the negativity.
